Horses are incredible beings and truly fill so many roles, they are our teachers, partners, healers, teammates, and best friends.
We are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share our days with these stunning animals, it is a privilege and honour to care for them and learn from them every day!

Maverick

Maverick has been a huge part of our family and program for more than a decade. He has a huge resume including experience in dressage, hunter, jumper, cross country and western! He is a very steady guy for new riders and has a beautiful canter to learn on. He has perfect flying changes, and is rhythmic to jump. He enjoys a leisurely trial ride in the summer. Maverick is a kind soul who loves his riders and other equine friends.
Duchess

Duchess has been apart of our family and lesson program for several years at Empire. She is a very friendly, quiet mare who caters to the riding abilities of many. She is a great beginner pony, who has a smooth trot that feels like floating on a cloud. In her younger showing years, she earned many wins in the jumper ring with her naturally speedy, and agile abilities to navigate courses. She has dressage experience, and loves trail riding. This pony has been part of the heart of our program for over a decade. We treasure her deeply!
Story Time

Story is one of our beloved lesson ponies that has been with us for many years. In her younger years, she was a successful hunter and jumper competitor. She has taken many of our riders around their first hunter trips at shows, first flat classes and earns top ribbons in every arena. She has an extremely smooth canter, and offers beautiful flying lead changes. She is a more forward travelling horse and loves to jump. She is full of personality and comes with some quirks, but her love for her kids and jobs is unmatched. She bonds deeply with her special equine friends, and is always up for some love from her riders.
Sprite

Sprite is an exciting lesson horse who caters to the riding abilities of many. He is full of character, and is a mix of sweet and sassy! He comes to us with an extensive jumping background, and also has dressage experience. His Icelandic heritage is incredibly unique as he has an additional gait called the tolt. He also walks, trots and has an exceptionally smooth canter, which makes him lovely to take a first canter on. With our more experienced riders, he sure shows his abilities jumping fences of all degrees of difficulty, and offers very expressive flying changes! He loves apples and enjoys grazing in the field.
Scout

Scout is a personable happy go lucky gelding that has been an excellent addition to our program. He has a background in dressage, as well as jumping. He has smooth gaits, which make him a great horse to learn on. Our teen and adult riders enjoy lessoning on Scout and learning how to connect a horse from the leg to the hand. He has so much character and deeply connects with his handlers! He loves a good scratch and is always up for treats of all kinds!
Paddington

Paddington is one of our small ponies ridden in our lesson programs. He comes from Northern BC, and has experience in the hunter, jumper and cross country rings. He loves to jump, and is brave and confident jumping over all of our challenging jump obstacles. He jumps in stellar form and loves to work. He is also wonderful on the trails. He enjoys being part of our stable lessons, and like most of our ponies, always loves a good treat!
Panda

Panda is a medium size pony for our more experienced young riders. She is a very kind soul who loves her herd mates and enjoys attention from her young people. She is an amazing trail horse who has confidently crossed bridges, ridden through rivers, and through different terrains. She has schooled on the cross country field over natural obstacles, as well as in the arena over regular jumps. She will continue to get show experience, and join our horsemanship programs as well. She is a beautiful mare inside and out!
Melody

Melody is a lovely lady who joined our team with a resume filled with experiences as a hunter/equitation/jumper. She has a beautiful charismatic, rhythmic canter and gives riders the opportunity to experience riding a large horse with big gaits and auto lead changes. She is very brave over all jump obstacles, enjoys trail and beach riding! She is a very kind soul and enjoys time with her people. She is always up for a grazing or grooming session!

Copper

Copper is one of our smallest ponies at Empire used in our lesson programs. Originally from Northern BC, he is a hardy little guy with a ton of experience show jumping, competing in dressage, hunters, and eventing. He was also trained to pull a cart and enjoys trail riding. He is very calm and steady, making him the perfect pony to learn all the basics of horse care and grooming with. He is incredibly friendly, and always looking for a treat and hug!
Hemi

Hemi is one of our many painted superheroes! From learning to canter, to jumping first jumps, Hemi has been a barn favourite for many years. He is very uniquely marked and has one brown eye and a stunning blue eye! Hemi enjoys leisure trail rides and time grazing in the field. He is a lover of all treats and enjoys heading out on new adventures!
Smartie

Smartie is a miniature horse with a larger-than-life personality. He originally came to the farm to be a companion to our show horses, however he has filled several roles over the nearly two decades that he has resided with us. He is sassy, charming, and is always up to something. He has always lived in a herd, making friends of all sizes and ages. He keeps order of his equine companions, but also loves deeply and has made life long friendships with several of our other horses. He joins the team for theory, horsemanship lessons and is an active participant in our seasonal camps. He is a fun size for kids to learn all about handling and grooming ponies. He is a staple at the farm, and sure to win you over with his charm!
Twister

Twister is the newest pony addition to Empire Equestrian. He has an extensive background in in hand showing, showmanship, and has even been a riding horse! He will be one of the faces of our “Painted Ponies” club that is part of The Equestrian Club. He is a very sweet soul and has already stolen the hearts of many!
Twister and Smartie have already become great friends; we are very excited to have another mini horse on our team!
